What we do in band?

  • Develop a sense of personal worth through successful participation in music
  • Develop responsibility and self-discipline through the band program
  • Learn and develop technique on a musical instrument
  • Read and interpret musical notation
  • Maintain instruments and keep in good condition
  • Learn good practicing habits
  • Perform a wide variety of music
  • Returning musicians from Stafford Elementary School continue their band education at Stafford Middle School in 6th grade band. Students will build upon their beginning band education and move forward into intermediate band studies. Full band rehearsals will take place about once a week and will be an extension of what students are working on in sectionals and practice at home. The annual concerts are an opportunity for students to display their growth as musicians.

  • Returning middle school students continue their intermediate band education and prepare for high school band in 7th and 8th grade band. Students build up on their musicianship and instrument technique, while also being given leadership opportunities to mentor younger students. During full band, students will continue demonstrating the skills they have been working on during sectionals and practice at home. The annual concerts are an opportunity for students to display their growth as musicians.
